George was a Royal Sardinian retired Lieutenant, and left Bremen August 30, 1787 on ship "Sarah" to go to America. The ship reached Philadelphia on November 9, 1787. He had letters of introduction to General George Washington and Dr. Franklin, Governor of Penn. He returned to France in 1790, then to Portsmouth, England in 1791, and to London in January 1792, where he taught drawing, painting , and architecture. In 1796 he was a teacher at "Deutch Akademy" of London. After 1807, he founded his own academy in London.
